WILDFLOWER tells the story of high school senior Christina Stahl. A classic overachiever, Christina balances honors classes, track and field, and flag football, all while holding a full-time job. But Christina has a secret. She is also raising both of her parents.
Sheila Stahl was born with one side of her brain underdeveloped. She has a 59 IQ and can’t read, drive, or handle money. Christina’s father, Mike, suffered a traumatic brain injury in his late teens and is himself mentally disabled. Despite the odds, Sheila and Mike met as adults, fell in love, and made a family as well as a life for themselves.
As Christina concludes her senior year in high school, she will have to make a heartbreaking choice – to go to college, or to stay home and care for her parents. And as if that’s not hard enough, a freak accident turns her world upside down. Again.
WILDFLOWER is a celebration of the strength of family – the story of three seemingly incompatible people who surrender to their circumstances, to each other, and ultimately, to love.
